Why do people think steve nash is better than what he really is?

the only reaon he gets 11 assists a game is because he has 2 other ALL-STARS on his team in stoudimire and marion and two potential all-star in diaw and barbosa its like a mini-all-star team, kirk hinrich/allen iverson/andre miller/jason kidd would all put up the same stats with that kind of supporting cast, john stockton had alot more assits than steve nash and nevber won the mvp award, take nash away from the suns and their still gonna win 50 game, im saying saying nash sucks, but he is in no way shape or form in the top 10 players in the nba.

Why do people think steve nash is better than what he really is?nba salary cap

becuz he's the best point guard for the NBA.

Why do people think steve nash is better than what he really is?nba rumors ,nba teams

Nash is an outstanding player according to his pg stats. I think most of the Suns are a pretty good game. He has helped them throughout a period of time now, and he's putting up a mean fight to get on top. I think they have a chance with or without Nash, but I still think he's probably the best on the team. Then Marion, Stoudemire, Barbosa, and etc.
Who knows? He's a punk.
He can shoot threes effective, he can penatrate and kickout, he makes some pretty nice passes and just becuase you have 2 other all stars doesn't mean ur garunteed 11 assists. You have to get them the ball in an effective postition
Eh he wouldn't receive any credit if he doesn't have all star teammates. He's playing alongside guys who are incredibly talented and are fantastic finishers. Plus, he fits perfectly in D'Antoni's offensive system thats why. He's playing along Marion and Amare. HUGE PLUS!!

When he was in Dallas, the last year he played, 2003-2004, the lineup looked like this in the playoffs. These guys didn't start all year but they got the majority of the minutes on the floor together (around 25-30) at the same time

C - Dirk Nowitzki

PF - Antoine Walker

SF - Antawn Jamison

SG- Michael Finley

PG - Nash....

No who the hell wouldn't play alongside those terrific scorers???? Of course he made passes to guys who finish well like the ones listed above and hence people "praise" him. What an overrated player!! He's lucky to be on talented teams
have you seen the suns play when nash is injured and can't play? notice the difference and then tell me he doesn't matter.
Nash is overrated , i don't think he will pull in half the numbers of what people are expecting
wow, um go to hell and never come back.
he is the best point guard in the nba
honestly, i just think he's super hot!!!
to be honest, nash's game is not just about the stats he produces night in night out. you mentioned names that belong to the elite list of point guards and nash deserves to be there because:

he can change a game. he is capable of coming up with a big play either in offense or defense. he can make things happen on the court. nails a critical shot or hits a game-changing pass. he can make crucial steals to break the momentum of their opponents.

as i said it's not just about HIS stats. you've also mentioned that he is surrounded by all-star caliber players.

it's not easy to make a team gel with players with egos. but that's what nash does. he holds the team together ensuring that everyone is a teamplayer. you don't really get to see that much of attribute in most of the players today.
Job well done. Keep spreading the message. Nash sucks %26amp; he's not a mvp player. Marion %26amp; Amare is better then Nash!

p.s. Check out my question about Nash. It is, Does Steve Nash makes Shawn Marion better? You're a realist %26amp; I know you'll be able to see my point on that question.
I feel the same way as you do. People give steve nash props because he can get 15 points and 15 assist WELL... If he didn't have the team that can hit the shots he gives them he wouldn't get all those assists instead he would be getting 6 or mayb 7assist a game. People who see his stats just seem to think he is awesome, i disagree, he is good but he isn't one of the best of all time.
I tend to think that without Nash, everyone else on that team would pretty much suck. Without Nash, they would be in a fierce battle with the Memphis for 15th place in the West.
First off, the only pg that you mentioned that could even touch Nash is Kidd. Secondly, he is the best pg in the league, and third, he made Phoenix a possible NBA Champ team. Nash is by far not overrated, and will probably get a third consecutive MVP. If this is not enough to prove he is AMAZING than you should really rethink your stance on Nash.
hes the best pure point guard in the league
you a ******* hater

hes the best pg in the nba

u hating cause hes white u fuking racist ho
Nash is a good offensive player, but he is not sound defensively. Even Stockton who was undersized and weaker managed to be effective on the defensive end by playing the passing lane and a leader in steals.

Nash is a very one sided player. He is not an all around basketball player. However, he is definitely an All Star point guard. I just dont consider him among the best in NBA history who truly deserves multiple MVP honors.
In Stocktons best years, MJ, and Larry, Magic, Hakeem and David Robinson were winning MVP's so thats not a fair point.

"Take away nash from the suns and their stll gonna win 50 games"

In 2003-2004 the suns were the same only without Nash and Diaw, but they had Joe Johsnon and Stephon Marbury. They won 27 Games. The next year with Nash, they won 62.
This is taken from another question I answered about Steve Nash. Don't be offended if you think some of this targets you, because the guy I was saying this to was accusing the NBA of making assists a racist stat:

"Got no shot, and only assists? Yeah, right! Take a look at some of these stats:

-Steve Nash is 2nd in the NBA in 3 pointer percentage (behind Jason Kapono of Miami, who takes almost half the three pointers that Nash does)

-"Most white guys are not scorers"? Nash currently has 19.3 points per game, placing him second in scoring on the Suns team, a full point ahead of Shawn Marion and a few TENTHS of a point behind yuh boi "AMARE" Stoudemire, at 19.8 PPG. I don't know about you, but that makes a white guy look pretty good next to his "BROTHAS".

-In the NBA, where making all your free throws is a must, Steve Nash ranks 11th in FT% at 88.2%. AMARE has yet to hit 80%.

-Nash also is 11th in field-goal percentage, at 53.6%. True, AMARE ranks third at 60%, but how many of those are from 2 feet away from the basket, or dunks? Those are what we in the basketball world like to call "high-percentage shots." Wait, let me put that into simpler terms so you can understand. That's what we like to call, "You are so freakin' close to the basket that my arthritis-stricken grandmother could make this" shots. Credit must be given to Nash for having a much wider range to attack the basket with, not just settling for the easy layup or dunk, and still having the consistency that he has.

-The Suns are currently the highest-scoring NBA team at more than 111 PPG. This is almost FIVE points more than the runner-up, Washington.

-In the 2005 Playoffs, Nash and the Suns steamrollered the competition, beating Memphis 4-0 and Dallas 4-2. Although they succumbed to the Spurs' defense 4-1 in the Conference championship, Nash recorded averages of 30.3 points, 12.0 assists, and 6.5 rebounds per game in the series against his former team.

As if that weren't enough for you, get this: Phoenix had a 29-53 record. WITH AMARE, AND MARION. In Steve Nash's first season, the Suns ended with a league-best 62-20 record. Still not convinced? In 2005, Joe Johnson demanded a trade, and was swapped with Atlanta's Boris Diaw. Diaw was later named the NBA's Most Improved Player. Maybe that should put an end to your theory that AMARE's the MVP.

Wait, maybe I'm giving you too many statistics. Nash has something unmeasurable: Basketball IQ. Yes, that's right, intelligence DOES transition into the world of sports! You'll hear basketball announcers talk about this all the time, provided you actually watch games. Basketball IQ consists of knowing how to direct movement of the ball, anticipate flow of offense and defense on both sides of the court by both teams, play unselfishly, penetrate and overcome defenses, and finding the open man. Nash has it, and Stockton had it. Why else do you think the Jazz could get to the NBA Finals two straight years in a row? Pistol Pete had it too. You should read Adrian Wojnarowski's article of Yahoo! Sports, "Basketball's virtuoso." And speaking of guards, take a look at other guards who have won the MVP title. Although I won't do it for you, read up on Magic Johnson.

All this brings me back to my point two paragraphs ago. Sure, AMARE and Co. may have had the potential to score, but basketball is all about play-making. You will rarely make baskets if you can't find easy/open shots, and that is exactly what Nash brings to the team. Essentially, Steve Nash makes everyone play better. Just ask Boris Diaw."

So basically, to put that lengthy answer I made into an analogy, the other Suns players are like pins in a lock. The pins may be there, but the lock won't turn by itself, not without the right element. Steve Nash is that element. He is the key to the Suns' offense. Just look at the games the Suns played when his shoulder was injured. And remember, the Suns were 29-53 before Nash came, and that was the team with Stoudemire and Marion. So much for "take nash away from the suns and their still gonna win 50 game".

While it is true that Nash needs the kind of supporting cast he has in Phoenix to run the kind of offense they do, the supporting cast needs him a lot more. With Nash, the Suns have a key, a key that makes all the pins fit into the right places. And with this, the lock is unlocked and the door opens.
KOBE OVER NASH

NASH IS LIKE A CONFEDERATE

OWNED WHEN IT COUNTS!!!!!!

He sucks flat out
first of all Allen Iverson is a 2 gaurd. So are you telling if you took jason kidd out of new jersey that they would've went to the nba finals. Andre Miller and Kirk Hinrich are you kidding me are you putting them in the same class with they other player you're crazy. Steve Nash is that good he make players around him better last year they did'nt have amari stoudimire. Mark Cuban fd up by not resigning him or they dallas would' ve been the defending champs for years to come WAIT A MINUTE ARE YOU A MAVERICKS FAN
nash sucks yo seriously he gets like 10 pts a game and 30 assists plus hes a ugly little dude too........
Nash is an excellent point guard regardless of his teammates. U can disagree with me but he is good at not only passing but also shooting. Though I have to admit that he got so many assists in Phoenix is because they are playing a running/uptempo game. He is still an important part of Phoenix team. Look at the games that he did not play this year, Phoenix loses 4 of 6 games without him. But I like Jason Kidd better than Nash cos Kidd is a real true all round point guard.
Steve Nash is in a great system right now. The Suns run an international style offense and Nash has mastered it from the point guard position; I also think he's a great basketball player with an exception basketball I.Q.
I used to think that Nash was overrated, but after watching him more and more that guy is the real deal. He makes that team go. Whoever he plays against he has his way. And by the way I am a San Antonio Spurs fan so it pains me to give him props, but if the guy is all that, he's just all that...
